Front lower arm silent blocks (Freelander 1)

Dismantling


1. Remove the lower engine protection shield.

2. Raise the front of the vehicle.

CAUTION: Do not work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with safety stands.

3. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the rear silent block to the subframe.

4. Disconnect the rear silent block of the lower arm from the body.

5. Unscrew the bolt securing the front silent block of the lower arm.

6. Disconnect the front lower arm silent block from the subframe.

6. Disconnect the front lower arm silent block from the subframe.


7. Using the LRT-60-008 tool and adapters, remove the front silent block of the lower arm.

Installation


1. Make sure that the hole for the silent block is clean.

2. Using the LRT-60-008 tool, install a new silent block into the lower arm.

3. Install the lower arm, aligning it with the subframe. Tighten the bolt, but do not tighten it completely yet.

4. Align the rear silent block with its seat on the body, tighten the bolts, but do not tighten them completely yet.

5. Tighten the rear silent block mounting bolts to a torque of 105 Nm.

CAUTION: When tightening nuts and bolts, the weight of the vehicle must be supported by the suspension.


6. Tighten the bolts securing the front silent blocks of the lower arms to a torque of 190 Nm.

7. Reinstall the lower engine protection shield.

8. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.

9. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
