Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine.

3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing.

4. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the cooling system distribution pipe to the cylinder block.

5. Remove the cooling system pipe from the thermostat housing.

6. Remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing to the cylinder block.

7. Unscrew the thermostat housing from the cooling system pump and remove the thermostat housing.

7. Unscrew the thermostat housing from the cooling system pump and remove the thermostat housing.


8. Remove the 2 O-rings from the thermostat housing pipes and discard them.



9. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the thermostat housing cover to the thermostat housing.

10. Remove the thermostat housing cover.

11. Remove the thermostat from the housing.

12. Remove the rubber ring from the thermostat.

Installation


1. Check the thermostat rubber sealing ring for material degradation or damage and replace if necessary.

2. Place the rubber ring on the thermostat.

3. Wipe the mating surfaces of the thermostat and housing cover.

4. Install the thermostat.

5. Align the thermostat with the protrusion on the thermostat housing.

6. Replace the thermostat housing cover, screw in and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 9 Nm.

7. Wipe the grooves under the sealing rings on the thermostat housing pipes.

8. Lubricate the new O-rings with rubber grease and place them on both thermostat housing ports.

9. Install the thermostat housing onto the coolant pump and push it into place.

10. Place the dipstick housing against the thermostat housing.

11. Screw in the thermostat housing mounting bolt to the cylinder block and tighten it to a torque of 9 Nm.

12. Connect the cooling system pipe to the thermostat housing.

13. Install the coolant distribution pipe onto the cylinder block, screw in the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 9 Nm.

14. Connect the heater hose to the thermostat housing and tighten the clamp.

15. Fill the engine with coolant.

16. Connect the negative battery terminal.
