Middle section of the exhaust system: Americas (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Raise the vehicle on a four-post lift.

2. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system with the muffler.

3. Unscrew the 2 nuts securing the inlet pipe to the middle section of the exhaust system.

4. Loosen the nut securing the middle section to the catalytic converter.



5. Release the middle section from the fasteners.

6. Remove the middle section.

7. Remove and discard the gasket.

Installation

1. Clean the center section and mating surfaces.

2. Install a new gasket on the intake pipe flange.

3. Install the middle section and secure it to the rubber earring.



4. Tighten the center section flange mounting nuts to 60 Nm.

5. Tighten the clamp nut to a torque of 55 Nm.

6. Install the rear section of the exhaust system with the muffler.

7. Lower the vehicle.
