Fuel rail: except America (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the intake receiver.

COLLECTORS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: MOD. K, V6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold seals: vehicles manufactured before May 2003.

3. Before May 2003: Note the position of the ignition coil ground wire, remove the 3 nuts and 3 bolts securing the ignition coils to the left intake manifold.

4. Before May 2003: Remove the ignition coils and set them aside.



5. Disconnect the right-hand injector harness either from the injector protective cover (if provided) or from the lugs on the fuel rail.



6. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the injector protective cover (if provided) and the right fuel rail to the right intake manifold and remove the cover.





7. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the fuel rail to the left intake manifold.

8. Unfasten the latches and disconnect the connectors from the injectors.

9. Remove the injectors from the manifolds, lift the fuel rail, disconnect the 4 fasteners securing the injector wiring harness to the fuel rails and move the harness to the side.



10. Remove the fuel rail.

CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.

11. Remove the O-rings from the injectors and discard them.

Installation

1. Lubricate new O-rings with castor oil and install them on the injectors.

2. Remove the plugs from the intake manifolds.

3. Place the injector wiring harness on the left fuel rail and secure it.

4. Install the injectors with fuel rails on the intake manifolds.



5. Connect the connectors to the injectors.

6. Install the injector guard (if provided) on the right fuel rail and secure the injector harness to the clips on the protective cover.

7. Screw in the bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake manifold and tighten them. Tightening torque 9 Nm.

8. Before May 2003: Install the ignition coils to the left intake manifold.

9. Before May 2003: Install the ground wire, install the harness mounting bolts to the left intake manifold and tighten to 9 Nm.

10. Install the intake receiver.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal.
