Four glow plugs are mounted on the lower right side of the cylinder head, adjacent to each volute intake port. Each glow plug is located in a drilled hole, with the tip protruding into the combustion chamber. The glow plugs are connected by a common wiring harness and are controlled by the ECM.
Glow plugs preheat the combustion chamber before and during cranking, maintaining the combustion process. Glow plugs play an extremely important role in facilitating engine starting, and also reduce exhaust toxicity and the noise level of a cold engine. For more information, refer to the chapter:
