Rear crankshaft oil seal (Discovery 1)

1. Manual transmission: remove the flywheel.

2. Automatic transmission: remove the torque converter drive clutch.

3. Remove the rear oil seal.

Caution: Do not damage the oil seal seat.

Installation

4. Clean the welded area of the oil seal and the crankshaft journal.

5. Clean the mating surfaces of the flywheel and crankshaft.

6. Lubricate the LRT-12-095 guide with engine oil and install it on the crankshaft.



7. Lubricate the sealing lip of the oil seal.

8. Install the oil seal along the guide and remove the guide.

9. Using the LRT-12-091 mandrel, drive the seal into place.

10. Reinstall the removed parts.
