Torque converter clutch (automatic transmission) (Discovery 1)

1. Remove the gearbox and torque converter (see "Automatic transmission LT230T").

2. Unscrew the 4 bolts of the ring spacer.



3. Remove the half coupling with the toothed ring.

4. Unscrew the 6 guide hub bolts, remove the hub and adjusting washers.

5. Check the condition of the half-coupling discs (deformations and cracks). Check the condition of the ring gear. Replace defective parts.

Installation

6. Clean all mating surfaces.

7. Install the adjusting washers and guide hub onto the crankshaft.

8. Tighten the hub bolts to 85 Nm.

9. Install the half coupling and ring spacer.

10. Tighten the spacer bolts to 45 Nm.

Note: Replacing the shims will only be necessary when installing a new crankshaft or pilot hub.

11. Install the gearbox.
