Removal



1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Drain the coolant.

3. Remove the radiator.

4. Remove the water pump pulley.

4. Remove the water pump pulley.


5. Disconnect the lower water pump hose.

6. Raise the car on a lift.

7. Disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the front cover, plug the hoses and secure them to the side.

8. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor wire.

9. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.

10. Unscrew the 9 cover mounting bolts.

11. Unscrew the two bolts securing the tray to the cover.

12. Loosen the two oil pan bolts on each side located next to the ones removed.

13. Remove the cover.



14. Remove the front oil seal.

15. Remove and discard the lid gasket.

Installation



16. Clean the threads of the cover mounting bolts.

17. Remove any remaining gasket from the mating surfaces.

18. Apply Hylosil sealant to the block at the gasket location.

19. Install the gasket on the block.

20. Clean the front oil seal seat in the cover.

21. Lubricate the outer surface of the new oil seal with engine oil.

22. Using the LRT-12-089 mandrel, press the seal into the cover.

23. Lubricate the oil pump drive gear and install it in place with the groove facing away from the engine.

24. Install the LRT - 12-090 guide onto the front cover and oil pump drive gear.

25. Place the front cover on the crankshaft.

26. Press on the guide and, rotating it, engage the pump gear with the key on the shaft.

27. Install the cover on the block.

28. Remove the LRT guide - 12-090.

29. Apply Loctite 242 locking adhesive to the threads of the cover mounting bolts. Tightening torque of the bolts is 22 Nm.

30. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts to 23 Nm.

31. Reinstall the removed parts.

Caution: Before connecting the oil cooler pipes, replace their rubber seals and tighten the pipes to a torque of 15 Nm.
