Removal
Caution: Two people are required when removing and installing the front axle.
1. Place stands under the front of the frame.
2. Remove the wheels.
3. Place a jack under the bridge and raise it until it supports the weight of the bridge.
4. Unscrew the nuts securing the reaction arms to the frame.
5. Disconnect the steering damper from the tie rod. Using a puller, disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle.
6. Unscrew the four nuts and remove the bolts securing the reaction rod to the bridge beam bracket.
7. Remove the thrust rod.
8. Unscrew the bolts securing the brake hose brackets. Move the bracket aside and tighten the bolts back into place to prevent oil leakage.
9. Remove ABS sensor (if installed).
10. Disconnect the brake caliper mounting bolts and hang the caliper aside.
11. Loosen the nuts securing the suspension shock absorber to the axle beam.
12. Disconnect the steering rod from the steering knuckle.
13. Unscrew the two nuts securing the Panhard rod to the axle beam, remove the bolts and rod, and secure the rod to the side.
14. Mark the relative positions of the propeller shaft flanges and the final drive. Disconnect the driveshaft and hang it aside.
15. Lower the axle and remove the suspension springs.
16. Disconnect the stabilizer bar fasteners.
17. Roll the bridge out from under the car.
Installation
18. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
