Front hub and steering knuckle parts
1 - brake caliper, 2 - protection, 3 - drive shaft housing, 4 - gasket, 5 - oil seal, 6 - bearing, 7 - brake disc protection, 8 - CV joint, 9 - retaining ring, 10 - spacer, 11 - intermediate shaft, 12 - upper pivot pin, 13 - adjusting washer, 14 - steering knuckle, 15 - gasket, 16 - lower pivot pin, 17 - brake disc protection bracket, 18 - thrust washer (ABS), 19 - bushing and bushing housing (ABS), 20 - upper pivot pin bearing housing, 21 - lower pivot pin bearing (and the upper finger without ABS), 22 - oil seal, 23 - retaining plate, 24 - gasket, 25 - oil seal (ABS), 26 - sensor bushing (ABS), 27 - thrust bearing (ABS).

Steering knuckle
22. Remove the brake disc protection bracket.
23. Remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle.
24. Disconnect the longitudinal steering rod.
25. Disconnect the brake hoses from the retaining bracket.
26. Remove the ABS sensor.
27. Unscrew the bolts securing the oil seal plate to the bearing housing, move the oil seal and plate aside. Attention: removal of the plate and oil seal is carried out after removing the steering knuckle bearing housing from the axle beam.
28. Unscrew the two bolts securing the lower steering pin.
29. Use blows on the protrusion of the pin to knock it out of the steering knuckle housing.
30. Remove the two bolts securing the upper pivot pin and brake hose bracket.
31. Remove the bracket, pin and adjusting washers.
32. Remove the steering knuckle.
Removing the bearing housing
33. Unscrew the seven bolts securing the bearing housing to the axle beam.
34. Remove and discard the oil seal and gasket.
35. Remove the lower pivot pin bearing ring.
36. Remove the upper pivot pin bushing housing. Discard the two thrust washers and bearing.
37. If the housing sphere is worn, replace the bearing housing.
38. Install a new lower bearing ring into the housing.
39. Install the new bushing and bushing housing. The cut of the sleeve should be directed backwards, see the figure.
40. Install the rear oil seal and lubricate it with grease.
41. Install new thrust rings and bearing into the bushing housing.
42. Place the bearing sphere seal and its retaining plate on the bearing housing in the correct sequence.
43. Install the housing on the bridge beam, tighten the housing mounting bolts to a torque of 73 N·m starting from the upper guide bolt.
44. Pack the lower pivot pin bearing with grease and install it into the housing.
45. Install the pivot pin housing onto the bearing.
46. Install the lower pivot pin with the new gasket and the protrusion facing outward. Do not tighten the mounting bolts.
47. Install the new ABS sensor bushing and seal. The seal edge should face the pivot pin.
48. Lubricate the upper pivot pin with oil and install it in place along with the adjusting shims.
49. Apply Loctite 542 to the threads of the upper pivot pin mounting bolts, install the bolts and brake hose bracket. Do not tighten the bolts.
50. Apply Loctite 270 to the lower pivot pin mounting threads, install the bolts and brake disc protection bracket. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm.
51. Tighten the upper steering pin mounting bolts to 65 Nm.
Adjusting bearing preload
Note: When adjusting the preload, do not install the steering knuckle seals.
52. Check for a clearance of 0.25 - 0.3 mm in the pivot pin bearings. The torque of the knuckle rotation from lock to lock should be 2.0 - 2.8 Nm. Adjustment is carried out by replacing the washers.
53. To determine the bearing preload, use a special adapter LRT-57-024. The adapter and torque wrench are installed as shown in the figure.
54. Lubricate the sealing lips of the bearing housing oil seals.
55. Install the oil seal, gasket and retaining plate. Tighten the board mounting bolts to 11 Nm.
56. Install the transverse and longitudinal steering rods. Tighten the mounting nuts to a torque of 40 Nm and secure the nuts with a new cotter pin.
57. Loosen the wheel stop nut and bolt.
58. Install the brake disc guard.
59. Reinstall the removed parts. When assembling:
- the drive shaft housing is installed by making a flat cut on the thread of the tip in the "12 o'clock" position.
- adjust the position of the wheel turning limiter (20 mm gap between the bolt head and the steering knuckle, see. "Steering").
- fill the steering knuckle with oil to the level of the filler plug.
- adjust the position of the ABS sensor.
