Removal and installation the 4.0L generator (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Remove the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03).

3. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

• Remove the protective cover, unscrew the nut and disconnect the wire.
• Disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Remove the generator. Unscrew the 3 bolts.

Installation

1.

CAUTION: Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

Install the generator.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 45 Nm).

2. Connect the generator electrical connectors.

• Tighten the nut (tightening torque 10 Nm).
• Connect and secure the electrical connector.

3. Install the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03)

4. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
