Oil temperature sensor 2.7L (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Drain the engine oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Filling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or disassembling parts, make sure that the area around the contact surfaces and connections is clean. To avoid contamination of the system, plug all open connections.

Remove the oil temperature sensor.

• Disconnect the engine oil temperature sensor electrical connector.
• Place a container to catch any spilled oil.
• Remove the O-ring and discard it.

Installation

NOTE: Lubricate new seals with clean engine oil.

Install the oil temperature sensor.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new O-ring.
• Tighten the oil temperature sensor (tightening torque 20 Nm).
• Connect the engine oil temperature sensor electrical connector.

2. Fill the engine with oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Filling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

3. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
