Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2.7L (Discovery 3)

Removal

CAUTION: Use caution when working near hot exhaust system components.

NOTE: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor shown before catalytic converter; post-catalytic converter sensors and diesel particulate filter (DPF) sensors have a similar design.

CAUTION: Do not work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always place reliable supports under the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove the lower gearbox guard. Unscrew 6 bolts.

NOTE: Discard the gasket.

Release the catalytic converter. Unscrew and discard the three nuts.



4. Loosen the clamp securing the catalytic converter to the diesel fuel filter (DPF).



5. Remove the heat shield from the exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector. Remove the bolt.





6. Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector.



7. Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor. Move the catalytic converter.

Installation

1. Install the exhaust gas temperature sensor. Tighten to 35 Nm.

2. Connect the electrical connector of the exhaust gas temperature sensor.

3. Remove the heat shield from the exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector. Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm.

NOTE: Install a new gasket.

Secure the left catalytic converter. Tighten the nuts to 48 Nm.

5. Tighten the clamp securing the catalytic converter to the DPF filter. Tighten the nut to 48 Nm.

6. Install the lower gearbox guard. Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
