Oil pump strainer and suction tube (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the oil pan. For more information, refer to Oil Pan (12.60.44)

4. Remove the mesh filter and the oil inlet pipe of the oil pump.

Remove the bolt.

• Remove and discard both O-rings.
• Clean the seal contact surface.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Lubricate new seals with clean engine oil.

Install the mesh filter and oil pump oil pickup pipe.

• Clean the parts.
• Install new O-rings.
• Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Install the oil pan. For more information, refer to Oil Pan (12.60.44)

3. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
