Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2.
CAUTION: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.


Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the lower engine cover. For more information, refer to Engine Protection (76.10.50)

4. Release the fuel cooler. Unscrew the mounting bolt.

4. Release the fuel cooler. Unscrew the mounting bolt.


5. Reposition the fuel cooler and fuel filter housing. Remove the two mounting bolts.

6. Remove the wiring harness mounting bolt.

7. Remove the starter mounting bracket. Unscrew the 4 mounting bolts.

7. Remove the starter mounting bracket. Unscrew the 4 mounting bolts.


8. Reposition the starter. Remove the two mounting bolts.



8. Reposition the starter. Remove the two mounting bolts.


9. Remove the starter.
  • Replace the rubber insulator.
  • Loosen the two nuts securing the starter wiring harness.

Installation


1. Install the starter.
  • Tighten the positive battery terminal fastening nut. (tightening torque 11 Nm).
  • Tighten the solenoid terminal nut (tightening torque 7 Nm).
  • Replace the rubber insulator.
2. Reposition the starter. Install the 2 mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts. (tightening torque 48 Nm).

3. Install the wiring harness mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt. (tightening torque 10 Nm).

4.
CAUTION: The starter mounting bracket must be installed. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle.


Install the starter mounting bracket. Install and tighten the 4 bolts. (tightening torque 10 Nm).



5. Reinstall the fuel cooler and fuel filter housing. Install and tighten the 2 bolts. (tightening torque 10 Nm).

6. Attach the fuel cooler. Install and tighten the bolt. (tightening torque 10 Nm).

7. Install the lower engine protection cover. For more information, refer to Engine Protection (76.10.50)

8. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
