
The starter power is 2.0 kW. The starter has the third level of tightness according to the Denso standard. The P76S type starter is made according to the traditional scheme with a coaxial arrangement of the electric motor shaft and the drive gear and an upper location of the traction relay. The starter design includes an electric motor with sequential excitation and constant rotor engagement, a freewheel clutch (overrunning clutch) and a built-in traction relay electromagnet. The starter is ventilated using a labyrinth breather, which provides sealing and removal of liquid.
The starter solenoid is energized by the engine control module (ECM) when the ignition key is turned to the engine start position. When a request is received to start the engine, the ECM checks the ignition key code authority before giving permission to crank the crankshaft. Power is supplied to the starter via the power bus directly from the positive terminal of the battery. The other end of the cable is connected to the copper threaded stud of the solenoid and secured with a nut.
The starter is located on the right rear of the cylinder block and protrudes through the hole in the flywheel housing flange to engage the ring gear. The starter is secured with two bolts to the cylinder block and four bolts and a bracket to the ladder frame. The bracket is the most important element of the starter fastening, so when removing and installing the starter, do not forget about the bracket.
