The driver's door module interprets the request made by the switch block and responds as follows:
- If a request is made to operate the driver's side rear door window, the request is transmitted via the LIN bus to the driver's side rear door module.
- If a request is made to operate the front passenger door window, the request is transmitted via the medium speed CAN bus to the front passenger door module.
- If a request is made to operate the front passenger side rear door window, the request is transmitted via the medium speed CAN bus to the front passenger door module. The request is then transmitted via the LIN bus to the front passenger side rear door module.
Opening and closing the window door
Each door module has 2 signal lines feeding its window up switch. When a switch request is made, one of the lines is grounded through the door module. Depending on which line is grounded, the door module determines which direction of window movement has been requested.
The door modules supply power to the window motors when they receive a request from the switch or a request for a general close (see below). The door modules are connected to their respective motors by a power wire and a return wire; the polarity of the electric motor can be switched depending on the direction of the requested movement.
The window lift motors also have Hall sensors. The Hall sensors allow the door module to detect the position of the door window and whether the motor is stuck.
General closing
AJB provides constant power supply from the battery to the 4 door modules. This power supply is used to control the "general closing" function. General closing allows all 4 windows to be closed using the radio remote control.
NOTE: The sunroof panel is not part of the overall closure system.
The global lock function is activated by pressing and holding the lock button on the radio remote control for 3 seconds. The global lock request is received by the CJB from the radio frequency receiver. The CJB then transmits this request to the driver and front passenger door modules via the medium speed CAN bus.
Initialization
When the vehicle is delivered from the factory, the electric window system operates slowly before initialisation. The initialisation process must be completed using the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) function of the Land Rover Approved Diagnostic System. For further information, refer to the PDI manual.

The same applies if a door module is replaced. The new module must be initialised before the vehicle is handed over to the customer. The process of initialising a new module is carried out using the New Module function of the Land Rover approved diagnostic system.
NOTE: When replacing the driver or front passenger door module, both modules will require initialization. This ensures that the software level in both front door modules is the same.
