The remote control test is done through the launch control module and the CJB. If the remote control passes the test, the CJB will initiate the unlocking of the electric steering column lock (if activated). After unlocking the electric steering column lock and turning off the power, the CJB activates the fuel pump module (FPDM) on vehicles with a gasoline engine or fuel pump relay on diesel engines.
In addition, the CJB manages engine start requests. If the driver depresses the brake pedal while the transmission selector is in the park position ('P') (on vehicles with automatic transmission), or depress the clutch pedal and the start/stop button at the same time (on vehicles with manual transmission), the CJB treats this as a request to start the engine. Before allowing a request to start the engine, the CJB checks for a brake or clutch signal. If the signal is correct, the CJB sends an engine start request signal to the ECM via the high speed CAN bus.
If an additional remote control is needed, the remotes must be synchronized using the diagnostic system recommended by Land Rover. If any of the modules involved in the remote control authorization procedure needs to be replaced, the module must be synchronized using the diagnostic system recommended by Land Rover.
