The combined crankshaft pulley and torsional vibration damper provide drive to the auxiliary units from the engine crankshaft via a 6-rib poly V-belt.
The unit is mounted on the front end of the crankshaft ahead of the CKP sensor pulse wheel and is secured with a flat washer and bolt. The damper consists of an outer steel housing with grooves around the outer perimeter for the belt, which is connected to an inner rubber coupling and a metal hub.
The torsional vibration damper smooths out vibrations created by engine elements that perform reciprocating motion.
