Camshafts (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

2. Raise the car.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

3. Remove the valve cover. Refer to the procedure: Cylinder Head Cover (303-01B Engine - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

Installation

1. Install the camshafts with the timing chain and tensioner. Align the timing chain links with the marks on the camshaft sprocket as shown in the figure.

Clean mating surfaces from foreign material. Lubricate bearing surfaces with clean motor oil.

2. Tighten the tensioner bolts. Tightening torque: 7 Nm



3. Install the valve cover. Refer to the procedure: Cylinder Head Cover (303-01B Engine - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

4. Connect the ground cable to the battery and install the cover. Refer to the procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
