NOTE: The removal procedure description may contain installation steps.
Removal
1. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
2. Raise the vehicle.
WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.
3. Remove the starter. Refer to procedure: Starter (303-06B Starting System - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).
4. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).
5. Remove the front wheel. Refer to the procedure: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
6. Remove the sealing ring.
7. Install the timing device. Special tool: 303-1277
8. Install the injection timing adjustment devices. Special tool: 303-1270
9. Install the crankshaft locking tool. Special tool: 303-1272
10. Tightening torque: Step 1: 70 Nm. Step 2: 82°
CAUTION: Use a new crankshaft pulley bolt.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.
