Camshaft seal (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Raise the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

2. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

3. Remove the timing belt. Refer to the procedure: Timing belt (303-01B Engine-2.2 L Duratorq-Td4, Removal and installation). Special tool: 205-053, 205-053-04



4. Remove the front camshaft oil seal. Special tool: 303-935

Installation

1. Install a new seal. Special tool: 303-1276

CAUTION: Extreme cleanliness must be observed when handling these items.

2. Tightening torque: Step 1: 20 Nm. Step 2: 60°. Special tool: 205-053, 205-053-04

WARNING: Be sure to use a new bolt.

Clean the element from dirt and grease. Position the element correctly on the mounting pins.

3. Install a new timing belt. Refer to procedure: Timing Belt (303-01B Engine - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

4. Connect the ground cable to the battery and install the cover. Refer to the procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
