Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.
2. Remove the transfer case. Refer to the procedure: Power Transfer Unit - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Vehicle includes: 6-speed manual transmission with drive axle - M66 AWD (308-07B Transfer Case, Removal and Installation).
3. Special tool: 303-1300
Be very careful not to damage the mating surfaces. Clean the area around the element and remove any foreign material.
NOTE: Some oil will inevitably spill during this operation.
Installation
1. Special tool: 307-595
CAUTION: Be very careful not to damage the seal.
2. Install the transfer case. Refer to the procedure: Power Transfer Unit - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Vehicle includes: 6-speed manual transmission with drive axle - M66 AWD (308-07B Transfer Case, Removal and Installation).
