Water pump (Discovery 1)

1. Drain the coolant.

2. Disconnect the radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

3. Remove the charge air cooler hose from the intake manifold.

4. Loosen the water pump and power steering pump pulley mounting bolts.

5. Remove the accessory drive belt

6. Unscrew the central bolt of the belt tensioner.

7. Remove the belt tensioner.

8. Disconnect the lower thermostat hose from the water pump.

9. Remove the water pump pulley.

10. Remove the power steering pump pulley.



11. Unscrew the 8 water pump mounting bolts. Remember the locations of the three through bolts.

12. Remove the water pump. Clean the mating surfaces of the block and pump.

13. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
