Tdi cooling system description (Discovery 1)

The engine cooling system is liquid, forced under pressure, with a thermostat. The radiator consists of three sections: engine cooling, gearbox cooling and charge air cooling. The fan and water pump are driven by a belt from the crankshaft. The fan blades are attached to a viscous coupling, which regulates the fan speed depending on the engine temperature. The coupling is secured to the water pump shaft with a nut.
