Rear bumper cover (Discovery 3)

Removal

All cars

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.

Raise the vehicle and place it on supports.

2. Remove both taillight assemblies. For more information, refer to Taillight Assembly (86.40.70)

3. Remove both rear quarter panel moldings. For more information, refer to Rear Quarter Panel Molding (76.43.55)

4. Remove 4 screws, 2 bolts and release 2 clips of the rear bumper trim.



5. Using assistance, remove the 4 clips from the inner edge of the bumper trim.

• Tilt the tailboard to gain access.
• Open the tailgate cover.

6. Remove the rear bumper cover.

• Release 12 clamps.
• Disconnect the electrical connector of the parking assist sensors harness. (if installed).

NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the part is removed only for access.

Remove the towing device hole plug. Remove 2 screws.



8. Remove the rear bumper trim panel. Release the 11 clips.



9. Remove the bumper insert. Unscrew 3 screws.

10. Remove the parking assist sensor wiring harness. Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.

11. Remove the parking assist sensor.

• Release the 2 clamps.
• Repeat the above procedure with the remaining three sensors.

12. Remove the parking assist sensor trim panel.

• Release the 3 clamps.
• Repeat the above procedure with the decorative panels of the remaining three sensors.

Installation

1. Install the parking assistance sensor trim panels.

2. Install parking assistance system sensors.

3. Install the parking assist sensor wiring harness. Connect the electrical connectors.

4. Install the bumper insert.

• Secure (if equipped) the parking assist sensor wiring harness.
• Tighten the screws.

5. Install the rear bumper trim panel.



6. Install the towing device hole plug. Tighten the screws.

7. Install the rear bumper cover

• Connect the electrical connector of the parking assist sensors harness (if equipped).
• Engage the clamps.
• Tighten the screws.
• Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).

8. Install both rear quarter panel moldings. For more information, refer to Rear Quarter Panel Molding (76.43.55)

9. Install both taillight assemblies. For more information, refer to Taillight Assembly (86.40.70)
