In the absence of a navigation system, recognition of voice commands is performed by the transceiver module (TM), to which the microphone is directly attached. If the vehicle is equipped with a navigation system, the voice recognition software resides in the navigation computer and the microphone is directly connected to both the navigation computer and the transceiver module. In the absence of a navigation system, the functionality of the voice command recognition system is somewhat reduced compared to vehicles equipped with a navigation system.
The TM module contains the software for the voice command recognition system for the phone only.
Voice control allows the driver to activate important functions of the car phone or navigation system without having to manually manipulate the controls. This allows the driver not to be distracted from driving. If the voice control system is activated, then any preset command will be converted into a signal to control the phone or navigation system. The system determines which component the command was intended for and sends it to the appropriate place. The system assists the driver with announcements or questions.
Telephone
The phone features listed below can be activated and used using voice control.
Dialing a number
This feature allows you to dial a number (up to 20 characters) via an editable numeric input and a number shown on the instrument cluster information center display. The maximum number of digits recognized at one time is 16.
Phone book
Allows the user to store the entered telephone numbers under the entered name tag. Name tags are keywords that allow you to associate a phone number with a subscriber.
This feature allows you to record 50 phone numbers with associated name tags that allow you to make a voice call. The voice phone book should not be confused with the normal phone book found in the SIM card or cell phone. This function allows you to edit the name tag and the phone book, and gives you sound feedback when a name tag is registered. Since the name tags are part of the audible feedback signals, the corresponding telephone number is shown in plain text in the instrument cluster information center display.
You can also use the option «Add name», to enter a phone number using the IHU, and then add a voice tag and record the result in the phone book of the voice recognition system.
Radio
The radio functions listed below can be activated and used by voice control.
Switching on the radio
With a voice command, the user can turn on the radio. Team "Radio On" (turning on the radio) turns on the ICE system in radio mode to the station that was listening before turning it off.
Radio tuning
The user can tune in to the desired radio station in the desired frequency range.
Station Presets
The user can assign the frequencies of certain radio stations in the desired frequency range to the memory cells. First you need to tune in to a station in the selected band. If the given memory cell has already been occupied, then a new cell will be assigned to it.
The automatic presetting feature allows the radio to find the six strongest stations and assign them to presets.
There are a total of nine memories for each of the bands: FM, FMA, AM, AMA, MW, MWA and LW (only nine presets are available for the LW band, so automatic presetting is not possible).
Voice commands allow the user to set the radio to a preset location within the currently enabled band.
Catalog of radio stations
This function allows you to assign a name tag to the current frequency of the active band, including for satellite radio (SDARS). If the user speaks the assigned name tag, the system will identify the corresponding radio frequency and tune in. This feature allows you to record 20 name tags that allow you to make a voice call. The system allows you to scroll through the entire catalog with the option to play or delete the announced station. It also allows you to delete name tags individually.
Because the nametags are part of the audio feedback signals, the corresponding frequency and range are shown as text in the instrument cluster information center display.
CD changer
The following CD changer functions can be activated and used by voice control.
Voice commands are the standard mode of operation, with the exception of some functions that are performed using the switches on the steering wheel. Voice commands can be configured for up to 256 tracks on a CD. Text-numeric information is displayed in 3-digit format, i.e. track 6 is displayed as "006". For MP3 discs, you can set commands to move up/down the directory list. For more information refer to Audio System (415-01 Audio Unit)
Display
The user can change the operating modes of the touch display using voice commands.
Voice command recognition system settings
Enable/disable voice feedback
The user can select the acoustic feedback mode or cancel this mode, except for some functions that require acoustic feedback to work.
Repetition
The repeat command requires the voice message recognition system to repeat the last dialog confirmation by voice and text.
Notebook
This feature allows the user to record a series of 10 notes up to five minutes long.
The user can play or delete notes in the order in which they were recorded. It is also possible to completely remove the notepad.
Road services messaging channel (TMC)
The TMS system is a part of the navigation system that provides it with real-time traffic information. Voice commands are on or off. For more information refer to Navigation System (419-07 Navigation System)
TMC also provides dynamic route assistance. This feature is also enabled/disabled using voice commands.
