High-mounted brake light (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

CAUTION: When removing exterior parts, always protect the paintwork and glass from damage.

Remove the high brake light.

• Using a glazier's knife, carefully cut away the sealant.
• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Disconnect the windshield washer hose.

NOTE: If disassembly was performed only to gain access to other components, no further disassembly should be performed.

Remove the washer nozzle.

Installation

1. Install the washer nozzle.

2. Carefully remove the sealant from the body to create a smooth surface.

3. Install the high-mount brake light. Make sure it is aligned correctly.



4. Remove the high brake light.

5. Apply etching primer to bare metal.

6. Apply primer over the etching primer.

7. Apply the activating compound to the high brake light.

8. Install the nozzle with the hole on the cartridge with sealant, remove the cap, shake the crystals and install the cartridge on the sealant gun.

9. Apply the sealant in an even layer 8.0 mm wide and 15.0 mm high, starting from the outer edge of the high brake light.



10. Install the high-mount brake light.

• Connect the washer nozzle hose.
• Connect and secure the electrical connector.

11. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
