Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) 4.0L (Discovery 3)

Removal

NOTE: The CKP sensor is located on the left side of the torque converter housing.

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always support the vehicle securely.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the exhaust system. For more information, refer to Exhaust System (10/30/08)

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or disassembling parts, make sure the area around the contact surfaces is clean and dry. To avoid contamination of the system, plug all open connections.

Remove the CKP sensor.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Remove the bolt.

Installation

1. To install, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.

• Clean the mating surfaces of the elements.
• Tighten the Torx head screw (tightening torque 8 Nm).

2. Install the exhaust system. For more information, refer to Exhaust System (10/30/08)

3. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
