Left camshaft drive cassette (Discovery 3)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

2. Remove the left bank cylinder head assembly. For more information, refer to Left Cylinder Head (12.29.04)

3. Remove the timing components. For more information, refer to Timing Components (12.65.13)

4. Remove the camshaft drive cassette assembly. Unscrew the chain guide mounting bolt.

NOTE: Do not perform further disassembly if the part is removed only for access.

Disassemble the cassette assembly.

• Release the wire tie.
• Remove the sprockets and chain.
• Clean the parts and check them for wear.

Installation

1. Assemble the cassette.

• Install the chain and sprockets.
• Secure the pieces with wire ties.

2. Install the camshaft drive cassette assembly. Tighten the bolt. (tightening torque 25 Nm).

3. Install the timing components. For more information, refer to Timing Components (12.65.13)

4. Install the left bank cylinder head assembly. For more information, refer to Left Cylinder Head (12.29.04)

5. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specifications.
