Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
2.
CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
3.
CAUTION: Never remove the coolant expansion tank cap when the system is hot, as steam or coolant escaping from the cap could cause serious injury, such as scalding.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System (10/26/01)
4. Remove the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03)
5. Remove the coolant pump pulley. Remove 3 bolts.

6. Remove the coolant pump.
- Remove 5 bolts.
- Discard the gasket.

Installation
1. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order. Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
2. Tighten the coolant pump mounting bolts. Tighten 5 bolts. (tightening torque 10 Nm).
3. Tighten the coolant pump pulley mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts. (tightening torque 10 Nm).
4. Install the accessory drive belt. For more information, refer to Accessory Drive Belt (86.10.03)
5. Fill the cooling system. For more information, refer to Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System (10/26/01)
