Fuel lift pump: up to May 2003 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.



2. Unscrew the bolt securing the fuel pump housing to the bracket.

CAUTION: Fuel vapors are highly flammable, and they are also toxic and explosive in a confined space. When working with fuel, it is necessary to have a foam type, carbon dioxide (CO₂), gas or powder fire extinguisher on hand.

3. Lift and tilt the pump housing away from the bracket.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.

5. Lay out a rag to collect any leaking fuel.



6. Disconnect the fuel hoses with quick-release connectors from the pump and the fuel filter.

CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.

7. Remove the fuel pump.

8. Loosen the clamp and remove the hoses from the fuel pump.

Installation

1. Connect the fuel hoses to the fuel pump and secure them with clamps.

2. Insert the fuel lift pump into the housing.

3. Connect the fuel hoses with quick-release connectors to the pump and the fuel filter.

4. Connect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.

5. Install the casing on the bracket and secure with a bolt.

6. Remove the previously laid out rags.

7. Connect the negative battery terminal.
