Power Steering Pump 2.2L Duratorq — Td4 (Freelander 2)

Removal

1. Remove the engine trim. Refer to procedure: Engine Cover - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION: To avoid contamination of the system, always plug all open connections.

2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

3. Pump out the fluid from the power steering reservoir.

WARNING: Power steering fluid is extremely flammable. Make sure that no power steering fluid is spilled on the engine and that the power steering fluid reservoir cap is tightly closed.

4. Place a container to collect the leaking oil.

Prepare to collect spilled liquid. Clean the area around the element and remove any foreign material. Be sure to plug all open connections to prevent contamination of the system.

Prepare to collect any spilled fuel. Clean the area around the element and remove any foreign material. Be sure to plug all open connections to prevent contamination of the system.

Installation

1. Install the power steering pump. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.

2. Connect the fuel lines.

3. Connect the power steering high pressure line to the power steering pump. Tightening torque: 20 Nm

4. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir to the power steering pump hose.



5. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and Installation).

6. Install the engine cover. Refer to the procedure: Engine Cover - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

7. Fill the power steering system with fluid and bleed the system. Refer to the procedure: Bleeding the Power Steering System (211-00 Steering System - General Information, General Procedures).
