Removing
1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Procedure: Engine Cover - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).
CAUTION: Be sure to plug all open connections to prevent contamination of the system.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and installation).
3. Pump out a liquid from a tank of the amplifier of a steering.
WARNING: Power steering fluid is highly flammable. Make sure that power steering fluid has not been spilled on the engine and that the power steering fluid reservoir cap is tightly closed.
4. Place a container to collect the escaping oil.
Prepare to collect spilled liquid. Clean the area around the element and remove foreign material from it. Be sure to plug all open connections to avoid contamination of the system.

Prepare to clean up spilled fuel. Clean the area around the element and remove foreign material from it. Be sure to plug all open connections to avoid contamination of the system.
Installation
1. Install the power steering pump. Tightening torque: 24 Nm
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of foreign material.
2. Connect the fuel lines.
3. Connect the power steering high pressure line to the power steering pump. Tightening torque: 20 Nm
4. Connect the power steering reservoir to the power steering pump hose.
5. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Procedure: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory drive - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4, Removal and installation).
6. Install motor protection. Refer to Procedure: Engine Cover - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).
7. Fill the power steering system with fluid and bleed air from the system. Refer to Procedure: Bleeding Power Steering System (211-00 Steering system - General information, General procedures).
