Additional high brake light (Freelander 2)

The high-mount brake light is located in the upper section of the tailgate. Access to the bulb is provided by removing the upper tailgate trim panel. After releasing the clips, the lamp can be removed from the outside of the car.

The brake light has a plastic housing with a red diffuser. The lamp uses one baseless lamp with a power of 16 W.

The additional brake light comes on simultaneously with the main brake lights in the rear lights when the ignition is in power mode 6 and the brake pedal switch is active (when the brake pedal is pressed).

An additional brake light can be activated by the ABS when the Hill Descent Control (HDC) function is active. A signal is transmitted via the high-speed CAN bus from the ABS module to the CJB, which supplies power to the brake lights.
