The upper brake light is located in the upper section of the tailgate. Access to the lamp is provided by removing the tailgate upper section trim panel. After releasing the clips, the lamp can be removed from outside the vehicle.
The brake light has a plastic housing with a red diffuser. The lantern uses one 16W baseless lamp.
The secondary brake light comes on at the same time as the main brake lights in the rear lights when the ignition is in power mode 6 and the brake pedal switch is active (when pressing the brake pedal).
An additional brake light can be activated by the anti-lock braking system when the controlled descent function is active (HDC). The high-speed CAN bus signal from the ABS module is sent to the CJB, which supplies power to the brake lights.
