The fuel rail is made of forged steel and is attached with two bolts to the cylinder head, along the top of the exhaust camshaft. The fuel rail accumulates the pressurized fuel supplied by the high-pressure fuel pump and delivers fuel to the fuel injectors.
The fuel rail pressure is controlled by the pressure control valve (PCV), which is located on the fuel pump side of the fuel rail and is controlled by the ECM. The fuel pressure sensor, mounted on the opposite end of the fuel rail, sends the actual fuel pressure signal to the ECM. For more information, refer to:
