The cylinder head contains two overhead camshafts, which operate four valves per cylinder via steel roller levers with hydraulic clearance compensators.
The intake valve is made of one material and has a head diameter of 24.70 mm. The head and stem of the exhaust valve are made of different materials, which are connected by friction welding. The head diameter of the exhaust valve is 22.33 mm. The stem diameter of the intake and exhaust valves is 6.0 mm.
The 16 single cylindrical valve springs are made from 3mm diameter spring steel wire. Each spring is mounted on the valve stem and inserted into the lower spring plate, which is located in the cylinder head. The upper end of the spring is inserted into the upper plate, which is secured to the valve stem by two split conical crackers. The two conical crackers have internal grooves that mate with grooves in the upper area of the valve stem. The lower spring plate also forms the valve stem oil deflector cap and is equipped with a sealing ring.
