The vacuum pump is secured with three bolts to the rear left side of the cylinder head. It is driven by the intake camshaft. The pump housing consists of a flange and a cylindrical housing in which the pump drive shaft is located. The drive shaft housing projects into the cylinder head and is sealed with a sealing ring. The end of the drive shaft has a projection that fits into a corresponding groove in the end of the intake camshaft.
The vacuum pump is used to operate the brake booster and to operate the intake manifold port shut-off device. For more information, refer to the chapter:
