The vacuum pump is attached with three bolts to the rear left side of the cylinder head. It is driven by the intake camshaft. The pump housing consists of a flange and a cylindrical housing in which the pump drive shaft is located. The drive shaft housing protrudes into the cylinder head and is sealed with an O-ring. The end of the drive shaft is provided with a lug that fits into a matching slot at the end of the intake camshaft.
The vacuum pump is used to power the brake booster and to actuate the intake manifold port cut-off device. For more information, see the chapter:
