Airbag (driver) (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees from the center position.

2. Turn off the ignition.

3. Disconnect the battery (minus first). Disconnect both cables.

4. Release the two access panel fasteners.



5. Disconnect the security system wiring connector from the steering column wiring (yellow insulation).



6. Unscrew the two screws (internal sprocket) fastening the airbag module to the steering wheel.

7. Remove the airbag module from the steering wheel.

Caution: Do not hang the pillow on wires.

8. Disconnect the wiring connector from the airbag.



9. Remove the cushion from the vehicle.

Please note: When replacing an airbag, the number of the new airbag must be recorded in the vehicle's maintenance booklet.

10. Installation is carried out in reverse order. The tightening torque for the screws securing the airbag to the steering wheel is 8 Nm. After installation, check the system's functionality using the TESTBOOK tester.
