Removal



1. Remove the transfer case.

2. Remove the transfer case shift lever housing.

3. Unscrew the 9 bolts securing the regulator housing.

4. Remove the regulator housing.

5. Remove the gearbox shaft. On a diesel vehicle, remove the spacer.

6. Remove the parking brake adjuster and ratchet.

7. Unscrew the two bolts securing the regulator box.

8. Unscrew the two bolts securing the parking brake ratchet, remove the ratchet and hub.

9. Remove the counterweight retainer and counterweight.

10. Remove the output shaft seal ring.

11. Remove the three clutch F sealing rings. Discard the seals.

12. Replace defective parts.

Installation



13. Install the counterweight and retainer into the hub.

14. Secure the regulator box to the hub. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

15. Install the parking brake ratchet. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

16. Install new clutch F and output shaft seals. Grease them with oil.

17. Install the regulator on the shaft. Make sure the seals are seated correctly.

18. Install the new gasket and regulator housing.

19. Install the output shaft, apply Loctite 270 adhesive to the bolt threads and tighten the shaft mounting bolt to 42 Nm.

20. Tighten the regulator housing mounting bolts to a torque of 23 Nm.

21. Reinstall the removed parts.
