The Terrain Response™ system allows the driver to select a program that will provide the optimum traction and performance for the current road conditions.
The system is controlled by a rotary switch located on the center console.
To provide the required vehicle performance for the selected terrain type, the system uses a combination of different vehicle subsystems. The Terrain Response™ system includes the following subsystems:
- Engine management system
- Automatic transmission (in the presence of)
- Transfer case
- Brake system
- Air suspension.
The control module of each subsystem provides feedback according to the selected program, which allows the Terrain Response™ control module to control the correct operation of all systems. The exception is the electronically controlled rear differential, which has no feedback from the Terrain Response™ system as it is controlled by the transfer case control module.
