The Terrain Response™ system allows the driver to select a program that will provide the optimum parameters in terms of traction and dynamic performance for the current road conditions.
The system is controlled using a rotary switch located on the center console.
To ensure the vehicle's performance is appropriate for the selected terrain, the system uses a combination of different vehicle subsystems. The Terrain Response™ system includes the following subsystems:
- Engine management system
- Automatic transmission (if available)
- Transfer case
- Brake system
- Air suspension.
Each subsystem control module provides feedback according to the selected program, which allows the Terrain Response™ control module to monitor the correct operation of all systems. The exception is the electronically controlled rear differential, which does not provide feedback to the Terrain Response™ system, as it is controlled by the transfer case control module.
