Front door lock for a 5-door car (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the plastic trim from the front door panel.

2. Disconnect the lock button rod from the door lock.

3. Disconnect the rod from the outer handle.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock.

5. Unscrew the 2 screws securing the right window lift cable guide and move the guide to the side.

6. Remove the 3 Torx screws securing the lock to the door.

7. On the driver's door, disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the lock.



8. Remove the lock assembly from the lock hole.



9. Open the protective cover of the lock.

10. Release the release cable retainer from the lock.

11. Disconnect the release cable from the lock.

Installation

1. Connect the release cable to the lock and close the lock protective cover.

2. Install the lock release cable retainer on the lock.

3. Install the lock in the door. On the driver's door, connect the cylinder rod to the lock.

4. Install the 3 Torx screws securing the lock to the door.

5. Install the right power window cable guide and tighten the screws that secure it.

6. Connect the shoe to the lock connector.

7. Connect the outer handle rod to the lock.

8. Connect the lock button rod to the lock.

9. Check how the door lock works.

10. Install the plastic door panel trim.
