Hood Lock Release Cable/Rod (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the hood lock.



2. Tie a rope to the end of the hood lock release cable and pull the cable out of the hood lock panel.

3. Untie the rope from the hood lock release cable.



4. Remove the 3 ties and release the hood lock release cable from its attachment to the electrical wiring.



5. Loosen the bolt securing the hood release mechanism lever to the lower panel of the front 'A' pillar.



6. Remove the hood release cable from the lever and remove the lever.



7. Move the soundproofing pad away from the engine compartment bulkhead to gain access to the hood release cable bushing.

8. Remove the bushing from the engine compartment bulkhead.

9. Remove the hood lock release cable.

Installation

1. Route the hood release cable through the engine compartment bulkhead.

2. Apply the hood release mechanism lever and connect the cable to it.

3. Install the bonnet release mechanism lever onto the front 'A' pillar and tighten the bolt to 9 Nm.

4. Install the hood release cable bushing onto the engine compartment bulkhead.

5. Attach the hood release cable to the electrical cable and secure it with ties.

6. Install the soundproofing gasket on the engine compartment bulkhead.

7. Tie a rope to the end of the hood release cable.

8. Pull the rope to pass the hood lock release cable through the hood lock panel.

9. Untie the rope from the hood lock release cable.

10. Install the hood lock.

11. Close the hood and check the operation of the lock.
