Removal


1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.


2. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

3. Remove the transmission and torque converter. Refer to procedure: Transmission - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transmission, Installation).

4. Remove the torque converter holder.

5. Remove the torque converter. Special tool: 307-613

Prepare to collect any leaking oil. Plug all openings.

Installation


1. Install a new torque converter seal ring. Special tool: 307-597

2. When installing the torque converter, carefully rotate the torque converter until the oil pump drive engages. Special tool: 307-613

3. Install the torque converter holder.



4. Install the transmission and torque converter. Refer to procedure: Transmission - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic/Transaxle Transmission, Installation).

5. Connect the ground cable to the battery and install the cover. Refer to the procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
