Selector shaft seal (Freelander 2)

NOTE: The removal procedure description may contain installation steps.

Removal

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.

2. Remove the cover and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).

3. Remove the transmission control module (TCM). Refer to procedure: Transmission Control Module (TCM) - 2.2L Duratorq - Td4 (307-01 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Removal and Installation).

Be very careful not to damage the mating surfaces. Install the new element.

Installation

1. When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.

Clean mating surfaces from foreign material. Install the seal flush with the gearbox housing.
