Rear crankshaft oil seal (Discovery 1)

1. Remove the gearbox.

2. Remove the clutch.

3. Remove the flywheel.

4. Drain the engine oil.

5. Replace the drain plug. Replace the sealing washer if necessary.

6. Loosen the 15 oil pan mounting bolts by approximately three turns. Do not loosen the three bolts A near the oil pump housing.

7. Unscrew the oil seal housing mounting bolts and remove the housing together with the oil seal.

Installation



1. Clean the block mating surfaces and accessible surfaces of the pan. If the pan gasket is damaged, replace it.

2. Apply engine oil to the sealing lip of the oil seal.

3. Install the LRT-12-061 guide on the crankshaft, install the oil seal housing and oil seal.



4. Remove the guide.

5. Tighten the oil seal housing bolts to the specified torque

10 Nm in the order shown in the figure.

6. Tighten the pan screws to the recommended torque and in the correct order, see below.

7. Reinstall the removed parts.
