Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Remove the timing belt and discard it. For more information, refer to Timing Belt (12.65.18)

3. Remove the special tool.
  • Step 1: Fixing the camshaft pulley.
  • Step 2: Dismantling the special tool.

4. Remove the pulley from the camshaft. Unscrew the three mounting bolts.

5. Using the special tool, remove the camshaft hub sleeve. Unscrew the bolt and discard it.

6. Install the special tool on the camshaft.

CAUTION: Make sure the special tool is properly seated behind the camshaft oil seal. Failure to do so may result in damage to the special tool.

8. Screw in the extraction bolt of the special tool.

Installation


1.
CAUTION: The new front camshaft oil seal is supplied with a transport sleeve, which must not be removed until the front oil seal is fully installed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.


CAUTION: Do not apply lubricants to the front camshaft oil seal, transfer sleeve or camshaft. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.


CAUTION: Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly.


Using the special tool, install the front camshaft oil seal.
  • Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
  • Use the discarded camshaft coupling bolt with the special tool.
  • Remove and discard the transport sleeve.

2. Using the special tool, install the camshaft pulley coupling.


  • Screw in a new bolt.
  • Tighten the mounting bolt in two stages:
  • Step 1: Tightening torque 80 Nm.
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolt another 90 degrees.
Step 2: Tighten the bolt another 90 degrees.


3. Install the camshaft pulley. Screw in the bolts, but do not tighten them completely yet.

4. Install the special tool.
  • Step 1: Lock the camshaft pulley.
  • Step 2: Install the special tool.
Step 2: Install the special tool.


5. Install a new timing belt. For more information, refer to Timing Belt (12.65.18)

6. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
