On-Board Diagnostic Unit (DCU) (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

CAUTION: Do not perform any work on the SRS system until you have read the relevant sections of this Manual.

1. Follow all safety rules when working with the airbag system.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Rules for working with airbags and seat belt pretensioners.

2. Remove the heater assembly.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Heater.

3. Disconnect the connector block from the diagnostic unit.

4. Remove the 3 Torx bolts securing the on-board diagnostics unit to the body and remove the on-board diagnostics unit. Discard the Torx bolts.

Installation

1. Install the on-board diagnostics unit on the body and secure it with new bolts. Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm.

2. Connect the connector to the diagnostic unit connector.

3. Install the heater assembly.

4. Connect the battery terminals, the negative terminal first.
