Replacing the rear crankshaft oil seal (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the torque converter drive disc.

ENGINE KV6 - MODIFICATION K, Camshafts of the left cylinder head, Drive disk of the torque converter.

2. Remove and discard the 5 bolts securing the rear crankshaft oil seal to the cylinder block.

3. Remove and discard the rear crankshaft oil seal.

Installation

1. Wipe the cylinder block surface and the crankshaft sealing journal, check that the threaded sockets are clean and dry.



2. Place the protective cover LRT-12-061 on the crankshaft.

3. Place the oil seal on the crankshaft journal.

CAUTION: Seals must be installed dry.

4. Screw in new bolts securing the oil seal to the cylinder block and, in the sequence shown in the figure, tighten them to a torque of 8 Nm.



5. Remove the safety cover.

6. Install the torque converter drive disc.

7. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
