Dismantling
1. Remove the oil pump gasket.
KV6 ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, Left cylinder head camshafts, Oil pump gasket.
Disassembly
1. Turn away 4 bolts of fastening of a back cover of the oil pump.
CAUTION: Do not allow the cover to separate from the pump body.
2. Turn over the oil pump.
3. Carefully remove the cover from the oil pump so that both rotors remain in the pump housing.
NOTE: The back cover is mounted on pins.
4. Remove and discard the cover O-ring.
5. Mark the relative position on both wheels of the pump and on its body.
6. Remove the outer and inner pump wheels.
7. Wash the wheels and pump housing.
8. Install the outer and inner wheels into the pump housing so that the marks of the mutual position coincide.
Examination
1. Check clearances:
- Gap between outer wheel and pump housing = 0.13-0.23 mm
- Clearance 'B' at wheel lugs = 0.05-0.13 mm
- Axial clearance of inner and outer wheels = 0.04-0.09 mm
2. Replace the oil pump assembly if the clearances are out of specification.
3. Turn out a stopper of the reducing valve.
NOTE: If a hex with a sealing washer is used as the plug, the washer must be discarded.
4. Remove the spring with pressure reducing valve.
5. Check that neither the valve nor the passage has burrs or corrosion.
NOTE: Corrosion can be removed with #600 sanding paper dampened with engine oil.
6. Measure the free length of the spring.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS, Engine - petrol KV6.
7. Check the freedom of movement of the valve in the channel.
CAUTION: If the valve surface is scored, replace the relief valve assembly. If there are burrs in the valve passage, replace the oil pump assembly.
Assembly
1. Clean the oil pump and the mating surface of the cylinder block, check that the threaded sockets in the cylinder block are clean and dry.
2. Clean the sealing surface of the crankshaft nose.
3. Remove the old sealant residue from the threaded part of the pressure reducing valve plug, from the pump cover bolts, and from the bolt sockets.
WARNING: Tap (for thread cleaning) use is prohibited.
4. Lubricate the relief valve, valve port and spring with clean engine oil.
5. Install valve with spring.
6. If a hexagon with a sealing washer is used as a plug, a new washer must be installed.
7. Apply sealant STC 50552 to the threaded part of the pressure reducing valve plug, screw it in and tighten to 25 Nm.
8. Lubricate pump wheels and housing bore with clean engine oil.
9. Insert the pump wheels into the housing so that the identification mark on the outer wheel faces outward and the marks on the relative position are aligned.
10. Lubricate the new pump cover O-ring with clean engine oil.
11. Install the cover with O-ring on the oil pump.
12. Apply STC 50552 sealant to the threads of the cover fixing screws, screw in the screws and tighten them.
13. Check how freely the pump wheels rotate.
Installation
1. Install the oil pump gasket.
