Dismantling
1. Remove the oil pump gasket.
ENGINE KV6 - MODIFICATION K, Camshafts of the left cylinder head, Oil pump gasket.
Disassembly

1. Unscrew the 4 bolts securing the rear cover of the oil pump.
CAUTION: Do not allow the cover to separate from the pump body.
2. Turn the oil pump over.

3. Carefully remove the cover from the oil pump so that both rotors remain in the pump body.
NOTE: The back cover is installed with pins.
4. Remove and discard the lid sealing ring.
5. Apply marks of relative positions to both pump wheels and to its body.
6. Remove the outer and inner pump wheels.
7. Wash the wheels and pump body.
8. Install the outer and inner wheels into the pump body so that the relative position marks match.
Examination

1. Check the gaps:
- Clearance between outer wheel and pump body = 0.13-0.23 mm
- Clearance 'B' on wheel projections = 0.05-0.13 mm
- Axial clearance of inner and outer wheels = 0.04-0.09 mm
2. Replace the oil pump assembly if the clearances exceed the permissible value.

3. Unscrew the plug of the pressure reducing valve.
NOTE: If a hexagon with a sealing washer is used as a plug, the washer should be discarded.
4. Remove the spring with the pressure reducing valve.
5. Check that there are no burrs or signs of corrosion on the valve or in the channel.
NOTE: Corrosion can be removed with 600 grit sandpaper dampened with motor oil.
6. Measure the length of the spring in its free state.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, Engine - petrol KV6.
7. Check the freedom of movement of the valve in the channel.
CAUTION: If the valve surface is scored, replace the pressure relief valve assembly. If the valve bore is scored, replace the oil pump assembly.
Assembly
1. Clean the oil pump and the mating surface of the cylinder block, check that the threaded seats in the cylinder block are clean and dry.
2. Clean the sealing surface of the crankshaft nose.
3. Remove any remaining old sealant from the threaded portion of the pressure relief valve plug, from the pump cover mounting bolts, and from the bolt seats.
CAUTION: Do not use a tap (for cleaning threads).
4. Lubricate the relief valve, valve bore and spring with clean engine oil.
5. Install the valve with spring.
6. If a hexagon with a sealing washer is used as a plug, a new washer must be installed.
7. Apply STC 50552 sealant to the threaded part of the pressure reducing valve plug, screw it in and tighten to 25 Nm.
8. Lubricate the pump wheels and the bore in the housing with clean engine oil.
9. Insert the pump wheels into the housing so that the identification mark on the outer wheel faces outward and the relative position marks are aligned.
10. Lubricate the new pump cover O-ring with clean engine oil.
11. Install the cover with the sealing ring on the oil pump.
12. Apply STC 50552 sealant to the threads of the cover mounting screws, screw in the screws and tighten them.
13. Check how freely the pump wheels rotate.
Installation
1. Install the oil pump gasket.
