High pressure fuel lines (Freelander 2)

The high-pressure fuel lines are connected between the high-pressure pump and the fuel rail and between the fuel rail and the four injectors. The lines are kept short to maintain maximum operating pressure in the fuel system.

The tubing is intended for single use only and should be replaced each time the nipple connection is released.

Fuel bypass lines

The fuel system bypass lines are equipped with quick-acting couplings and connect the fuel manifold, injectors and high-pressure pump to the fuel filter.

The injector bypass line is a single piece and is supplied as a single unit. The injector connector consists of two moving parts. This two-piece connector must be removed from the injector correctly. Otherwise, the connector will be damaged.

To remove the injector bypass connector, first pull up on the center retaining clip, then use the two tabs to release the locking clip. To install the injector bypass connector, push the connector onto the injector bypass port using the two tabs on the locking clip, then lock the connector by pressing down on the center retaining clip. There will be an audible 'click' when removing or installing the center retaining clip.

A 10 bar check valve is installed in the fuel injector bypass line connection, which maintains the pressure in the injectors. The 10 bar pressure is necessary to maintain the fuel in the hydraulic chamber and for the correct operation of the injectors.
